Sustainable plastics
Sustainable plastics - Wefapress' ongoing commitment
Wefapress is always striving to make its products more environmentally friendly and has the long-term goal of converting completely to sustainable raw materials. How do we achieve this? By carefully considering every step in the life cycle of our products. From research into sustainable materials to energy-saving production processes and efficient recycling systems – we do everything we can to minimise our ecological footprint. All our suppliers are required to work and produce according to modern guidelines.
Our green footprint counts
Our philosophy of sustainability
At Wefapress, it’s all about acting today and thinking about tomorrow.

Sustainable plastics:
a bridge to a green future
Sustainable alternatives:
The path to sustainable plastics
Our credo: „To fulfil the needs of today without squandering the opportunities of tomorrow.“
This is not just a nice phrase, but our daily motivation.
Our three pillars
Ecology:
Sustainable energy and resource efficiency
Photovoltaic system: Our 2MW photovoltaic system is an essential part of our energy generation strategy, which contributes to the reduction of our CO2 footprint.
Recycling-system: We have implemented an internal recycling system for offcuts and chips to minimise waste and reuse materials.
Eco-switches on CNC machines: Our CNC machines are equipped with eco-switches that reduce energy consumption.
LED lighting and energy efficiency: We save significant amounts of energy thanks to automated LED lighting and the latest energy efficiency technology in our buildings.
Economics:
Efficient use of resources and modern technologies
Energy-efficient use of heat: The waste heat from our presses is used to heat the production halls, while a heat storage system in the pressing plant further increases energy efficiency.
Modern packaging strategies: We rely on the reuse of neutral packaging for shipping and use printed packaging material as filler to cut costs and reduce waste.
Automated systems: The use of automated LED lighting and energy-efficient technologies in our buildings helps to reduce operating costs and improve competitiveness.
Social:
Commitment to employees and society
Healthy lifestyle: We promote the health of our employees through fitness centre benefits and offer free fruit at the workplace to encourage better nutrition.
Compliance with the supply chain act: We are committed to complying with the supply chain act to ensure fair and ethical working conditions along our supply chain.
Promoting inclusion: Promoting inclusion is a core part of our corporate culture, creating a diverse and equitable work environment.
Social projects: We support financial social projects, such as a children’s home in South Africa, to fulfil our social responsibility.
Fair pay: All our employees are paid according to collective agreements, which ensures fair working conditions and appropriate remuneration.
Our 5 sustainability statements
Our commitment to the environment goes beyond our own production processes. All our suppliers are selected not only based on the quality of their products but also on their ecological responsibility. We actively encourage them to adhere to the latest and most environmentally friendly guidelines in their work and production. This ensures that every step in our supply chain meets the same high environmental standards we set for ourselves.
Energy efficiency is a key element of our sustainability strategy. We have invested in a 2MW photovoltaic system that covers a significant portion of our energy needs. Additionally, we utilize the waste heat from our manufacturing processes to power our heating systems. These systems are equipped with a thermal storage unit, allowing for the efficient use of generated heat. Furthermore, 80% of our existing buildings are designed according to the latest energy efficiency standards. This includes the use of LED lighting and highly efficient insulation systems that minimize energy consumption while ensuring a comfortable working environment.
Waste prevention is our top priority. And if something does remain, we make sure it is properly recycled. From reusing cartons to upcycling production waste – we ensure that nothing goes to waste.
Fairness, respect, and community – these are the values that drive us. Whether in collaboration with our employees, monitoring our supply chains, or engaging in social projects, at Wefapress, it’s always about more than just business.
Our journey towards a sustainable future has only just begun. Our vision: To become a climate-neutral company, meet the sustainability goals of the SDGs, and transition all our products to a bio-based and biodegradable foundation by 2030. A big dream? Perhaps. But we are ready to make it a reality!
Forward-oriented sustainability plans
We look forward to a time when every aspect of our business is in line with our sustainable corporate goals. In the future, our products will have a carbon footprint and through our continuous improvement in monitoring, we will be able to record and optimise our fuel consumption and emissions.
The development of a detailed strategy for sustainability is planned for the coming autumn and will be further confirmed by the application for DIN ISO 14001 certification. The conversion of our vehicle fleet to electric vehicles begins with the versatile Sprinter and Caddy and marks the start of a new era of company mobility.
We are currently conducting a sponsored research project to guarantee traceability and thus implement a material cycle system. Our internal production waste is already being collected, processed and compressed into new sheets. The digitalisation of our processes is a further step towards increasing efficiency and transparency.
Next steps in our sustainability journey
Calculating our carbon footprint is just the beginning. We plan to collect valuable feedback through a double impact materiality analysis, which will be mapped through a questionnaire addressed to our stakeholders, to incorporate into our sustainability strategy. This holistic approach will enable us to move forward in a responsible and targeted manner.
