Internship abroad in Dublin – a valuable experience

At the Berufskolleg Wirtschaft und Verwaltung Ahaus (Vocational College for Business and Administration), students are regularly presented with opportunities for internships abroad. Kristina, Wefapress trainee in her 2nd year of training as an industrial clerk, was thrilled! After an info session where she learned all about host families and employers in different countries, the choice fell on Dublin!

Arrival in Ireland

After landing in Ireland, the interns were met at the airport by their permanent contact person, who also took Kristina to her host mother along with a few others. For the next three weeks, however, she would have to master the journey to work by bus on her own. Kristina’s employer, Emergency Care Ltd, was based right in Dublin. A company that specializes in first aid products and also offers qualified first aid courses with a free instructor network. There, a workday from 09:30 – 17:00 awaited them.

Work experience in Dublin

“The team of five around boss Paul Downes was very friendly and helpful right from the start,” says Kristina, describing her day-to-day work. “I got to really get involved, creating brochures and flyers for marketing, generating invoices and delivery bills, and notifying shipments to a parcel service. I also handled orders to suppliers, or put together first aid kits in the warehouse. I was even able to help prepare courses, evaluate the tests and create certificates for the participants.”
